AZRFG November Meeting:
Stanley Ciomperlik
(Ciomperlik Farms, San Juan TX)

Thursday, Nov 12th at 7:00pm, at Mesa Comm College...

Growing & Grafting
Avocados

This month, the Arizona Rare Fruit Growers welcomes our special guest, Stanley Ciomperlik, of Ciomperlik Farms in San Juan, TX.

The topic of the night is Avocados! It's a fruit we love and are lucky to be able to grow here....with a few issues....

Stanley will be sharing his experiences as a successful avocado orchardist growing in a climate with many of the similarities and challenges as our low desert (well, except for the humidity).

In addition to harvesting and selling the fruit, Ciomperlik Farms is also a seller of seeds and budwood. Stanley will be demonstrating some of his favorite grafting techniques and talking about the care of those young grafts. And, will introduce some varieties to us that we are hoping to trial here in Arizona.

An extra reference, coincidentally titled: Grow Avocados in Texas? Yes, We Can.

Bring your questions and your avocado-love and join us for a great night!

We'll wrap up the meeting with refreshments, fruit tasting and mingling 'til about 9:30 or 10:00.

REFRESHMENTS: For this meeting, w e ask members with last names beginning with A-M to bring either fresh fruit or vegetables to share at the taste testing table or a dish for the refreshment table.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME and encouraged to join our meetings. When we bring in an out-of-town speaker, we always appreciate a suggested $5 donation if you are not an AZRFG member, to help us cover expenses for travel and accommodations. Thank you!

TIME, LOCATION Special Note: An important note, especially for our members who are on autopilot with our meeting start time AND location-- Please take note that this meeting is a change from our regular meetings in many aspects. This meeting will start a half hour earlier at 7:00pm on Thursday night, November 12th, and it will be hosted at the Mesa Community College campus at Southern Avenue & Dobson Rd.

RSVP appreciated, not required:  Due to the great interest in this event, we are asking that you help us plan for sufficient and comfortable seating by clicking on the RSVP Now! button below.

We'd like to thank our host, Mesa Community College, for providing us this large meeting room for the night.

We hope to see you Thursday night for this exciting topic!
