Found Object art by Suzy Sherbine
"Found Object" art by Suzy Sherbine

About Suzy: For the last 7 years Voorhees artist, Suzy Sherbine, has been creating sculptures made out of materials she finds on the ground in Camden or in the trash. Inspired by a course on Education for Sustainability by the Cloud Institute of NY and the film Poet of Poverty, which dealt with the decline and degradation of Camden, by the Center for Environmental Transformation, Suzy has made it her mission to speak out about the social and environmental injustices she sees through her art. By weaving some of the history of Camden into her pieces, America’s poorest city becomes the lens through which we see and examine our region’s most pressing environmental issues. Using imagination with a sense of humor Suzy has created the Exhibit ArtofFACTS Trash Transformed to Teach. In addition to exhibiting she also takes her art into schools for projects where kids get to enthusiastically share in her vision to repurpose and reuse found objects while also learning about sustainable choices they can make to help the environment.
