ATC Goaltending Summer Goalie Camp

 Lloydminster, AB - July 26-29, 2016

Progression(s): Regular, Advanced and Elite

2016 Camp Overview/Information

OPTIMAL TRACKING POSITION (OTP)

Students in every progression, at every camp will be introduced to the Optimal Tracking Position (OTP).  When discussing the OTP it goes much beyond simply using your eyes to see the puck, we will break down body position in stance as well as when moving.  We will also be using video analysis to identify and correct any movement/mechanic issues that may arrise prior to using the OTP.  Once students understand how to position their body properly prior to shot release then the actual save and recovery is much easier to execute.

On Ice Station Set Up

All goaltenders that attend our 4-day camps are in FULL participation mode from the time they check in.  We are big believers that each goaltender must take some of the development responsibility upon them.  At each station there will be a goalie participating in the drill, another goalie will be helping with the execution and set up of the drill (getting pucks, passing or screening) and 1 goalie off to the side working on a movement pattern that closely mirrors the skills being worked on in the drill.

 Low Student/Instructor Ratio

The largest ratio that we have at any of our camps is 3:1, we want each and every student to get ample time in the net.  With this low ratio we are able to offer instant feedback, coaching as well as an opportunity for the goalie to make corrections on the spot. There will be video stations each day where students will be filmed on an iPad, once their turn is complete the student will have an opportunity to watch the video with their instructor on the spot.

Quality and Experienced On and Off Ice Staff

Both owners of ATC Goaltending will be on and off the ice at EVERY 2016 camp, to assist in making your 4-day camp experience the best it can possibly be.  This year’s staff will be the most experienced instructional group we have put on the ice to date!  All of our support staff are current clients of ours as well so they can relate to what the students are going through on a daily basis.

Creating a Challenging yet Positive Environment

Our first goal for each participant is to have fun!  The structure and effort required to complete our camps is very demanding and from time to time we have to challenge individual students so that they are able to dig down and get everything they can from their 5 day camp experience.  We expect all goalies that attend our camps to work hard, pay attention and give their best effort.

PROGRESSION INFORMATION

Regular Progression ($699 + GST)

In this progression students will be introduced to all goalie specific skating movements - proper stance and butterfly, recovering from butterfly, butterfly slides, inside edge pushes (pushing while down in butterfly).  Students will also be taught how to set up for an oncoming attack, the importance of positioning as well as the important role that rebound control plays in overall success.  Towards the end of the week there will be specific on and off ice time dedicated to handling high shots to the glove, blocker and body.

Each day has 2 on ice sessions, 1 goalie specific off ice session, a daily classroom session where we discuss topics such as equipment usage, review of on ice topics, how to prepare for games, among other topics.  This progression is designed for newer goalies that are looking to get a firmer grasp on the fundamentals of playing goal.
