Only Light Can Do That! is produced by King Alive! The Dream Lives! Performance Company, the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts, Floris United Methodist Church Music Program; and in collaboration with: George Mason University Art History Department, Christ Fellowship Church of Herndon, The Art For Life Program, and Herndon Cable Television.

Only Light Can Do That! is living history musical celebrating the genius, the greatness, the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Starring actor, dancer, singer Hasani Allen (Next Stop Theatre's Kiss Me Kate) as Dr. King, and featuring music, beloved songs and actual testimonies from the period. This inspirational performance will bring you back to the turbulent 60’s and the ‘drum major for justice’ who dared to dream a dream and persisted to his untimely death to see that dream live on and on.

Hasani Allen is known as a “triple threat.” He can sing, he can dance and he is one incredible actor.  A senior Musical Theater Major at Catholic University of America from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Allen has been in the theater from a very young age, performing in his first professional production at the Walnut Street Theater at the age of ten. Since arriving at Catholic University, his extensive theater credits include Finian’s Rainbow (Howard), Lend me a Tenor (Max), Godspell (Judas). He most recently wowed standing room only audiences in Next Stop Theater’s production of Kiss Me Kate (Paul) receiving rave reviews by Broadway World and DC Metro Theater Arts.

Martina Green is a native Washingtonian with a voice described by her loyal fans as ‘anointed.’  With a powerful range from contralto to Soprano 1, Martina has sung background vocals for gospel sensation Yolanda Adams and was nominated for “Best Lead Actress” at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ “Cappies Awards” for her outstanding role as Dorothy in her high school production of ‘The Wiz.”  She attended Berklee College of Music and is presently completing an associate degree at Northern Virginia Community College while pursuing her music career.

Sumayyah Abdullah is a creative artist, choreographer, dancer, songwriter and poet. She has been involved with the arts since early childhood. Sumayyah has performed at various venues and prestigious events including a recent performance at the Summer African Dance Festival in Richmond, VA. She has worked alongside with chart topping artist in the recording studio and has the gift to bring art to life, as it is the song to her soul.

Candice Botswick has earned a sterling reputation in the greater Washington DC metro area as a silky smooth balladeer, a swinging jazzer and a show stopping blusey rock and roller. This gifted entertainer has wowed audiences at some of the hottest DC venues including the Ritz Carlton – Georgetown, The Westminster, Twins Jazz, Blues Alley; and was a top competitor in the recent DC Singers Jazz Jam at the Black Fox.

Call To Harmony is an acapella men’s choir with a sound described by many as ‘fresh and inspiring.” Formed by members of Floris United Methodist Church and undeniably captivating, they have developed their own unique and enjoyable style of spiritual, gospel and barbershop music that listeners find worshipfully enjoyable!

The Treble Clefs Ensemble, founded in 1987 by director Jean Goldsby, draws listeners of all ages performing annual concerts at various venues in Virginia, including Falcons Landing (Potomac Falls), Lansdowne Woods (Leesburg), Pleasant Valley UMC (Chantilly) and ArtSpace (Herndon).  Celebrated for their precision harmonies and impressive repertoire, their musical presentations consist of a variety of music, including Broadway show tunes, Pop, Patriotic and Country. They are best known for their very popular annual Christmas show.
