Winter Naturalist Walks

The Yakima Area Arboretum is proud to bring you a pair of winter focused walks and talks led by a YAA trained Naturalist. Our Naturalists will lead you on a short walk through the Arboretum's winter landscape pointing out interesting phenology changes happening all around you.  Each walk will last about an hour and a half.  Please wear sturdy hiking boots or snow boots, bring bottled water and dress for the weather. Oh, and don't forget your camera!

Winter Naturalist Walks:

February 6 @ 10 am "Winter Survival" - Winters can bring on harsh conditions that not all plants and animals are suited for, this Naturalist Walk will cover the basics of nature during winter. Discover what animals do during the winter months for survival and how plants protect themselves during cold dark winters. Suit up in your winter gear and enjoy a walk with Yakima Area Arboretum trained Naturalists Ken, Cathy, and Bob in the fresh air.

February 20 @ 10 am "Winter at the Arboretum" - Take a walk through the Arboretum with trained Yakima Area Arboretum Naturalists Ken and Cathy as they point out interesting winter features. Did you know that plants are already preparing for spring and summer? Look for birds that call the Arboretum home during the winter and see if you can identify them. This naturalist walk will be great for anyone that is interested in discovering what goes on in nature during the winter months.
