GRC by Design Workshop

Session Description: This workshop aims to provide a blueprint for attendees on effective enterprise GRC strategies in a dynamic business, regulatory, and risk environment. Attendees will learn enterprise GRC strategies and techniques that can be applied across the organization. Learning is done through lectures, collaboration with peers, and workshop tasks.

Attendees will take back to their organization approaches to address:
  • Enterprise GRC Strategy. Understand GRC in the context of organization performance, strategy, objectives, obligations, risks, as well as its culture and values.
  • Enterprise GRC Processes. Flowing from strategy are the enterprise GRC processes integrated into the organization and how it operates. Enterprise GRC, done correctly, is part of the rhythm and cadence of the organization.
  • Enterprise GRC Information Architecture. Defining an information architecture that enables enterprise GRC strategy and processes by providing 360° situational awareness of GRC in context of the organization strategy and operations.

Speaker Bio: Michael Rasmussen is an internationally recognized pundit on governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC). With 21+ years of experience, Michael helps organizations improve GRC processes and choose technologies that are effective, efficient, and agile. He is a sought-after keynote speaker, author, and advisor and is noted as the “Father of GRC” — being the first to define and model the GRC market in 2002 while at Forrester.

Michael has contributed to U.S. Congressional reports and committees, and currently serves on the Leadership Council of the OCEG and chairs the OCEG Technology Council.
Michael is quoted extensively in the press and is respected for his commentary on broadcast news channels. He is an Honorary Life Member in The Institute of Risk Management for his contributions to risk management and GRC. In June 2007, Treasury & Risk recognized Michael as one of the 100 most influential people in finance with specific accolades noting his work in “Governance and Compliance: Saving the Planet and the Corporation” and as a “Rising Star in Rocky Times: Corporate America’s Outstanding Executives.”
Prior to founding GRC 20/20 Research, Michael was a Vice-President and ’Top Analyst’ at Forrester Research, Inc. Before Forrester, he led the risk/compliance consulting practice at a professional services firm and has specific experience managing compliance and risk within organizations.Michael’s educational experience consists of a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelor of Science in Business.
Michael is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School with a research focus in ethics and church history. He is GRCP (GRC Professional), a CCEP (Certified Compliance and Ethic Professional) as well as a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional). OCEG has recognized him as an OCEG Fellow for his contributions and advancement of GRC practices around the world.

IIA-RI Cancellations / Refunds Policy

Payment is due on, or before, the scheduled session. Cancellations must be received seven (7) calendar days prior to a seminar date; if you already paid in full, a full refund will be provided. If you need to cancel within the seven calendar days prior to a seminar and you already paid, you will not receive a refund however you may defer your payment towards a future seminar. If you haven’t yet paid for the session (pay at the door), full payment is owed or you will not be allowed to attend future Ocean State IIA sessions. Please note that we need to adhere to our policy in order to offer our members quality training sessions and to help us plan for seminar expenses (room/food).
