Using the violence of the cross as a starting point, young people from across the diocese will gather to explore the practice of compassionate witnessing—having the loving courage to accompany victims of violence through their suffering without being ourselves traumatized by the experience. Together, we will consider how we can make a difference in transforming the societal violence we all face.

Event is for middle- and high-school aged young people.

This overnight event begins with a meal on Friday night. A light breakfast on Saturday morning will also be served.  In between, we will be working with NYC-based performance artist Tony LoPresti to explore the meaning and power of the Passion narrative using our physical selves, our own experiences, and our imaginations.

It also includes a Friday night worship in the darkened sanctuary and a Saturday morning reflection on the impact of the story on our lives and world today. The event will include activities and discussions, games, and Taizé-inspired worship.

NOTE:  This is a "lock-in" style overnight.  Participants should be prepared to sleep on the floor of the church. Bring sleeping bags, pillows, and if desired, sleeping pads or mats.  (The floor is carpeted.)  Due to space limitations, large inflate-a-bed mattresses may be problematic.

Cost:  $15/person.  Scholarship support is available upon request.

Each participant, both youth and adult, must come with completed "Consent" and "Medical/Emergency Contact Information" forms.

Advance registration no later than noon, March 23, 2016, is required.
