- In 2006, Ron teamed up with Stu Webb, the founder of Collaborative Law, to co-author the first client-centered book on Collaborative Divorce, entitled The Collaborative Way to Divorce: The Revolutionary Method that Results in less Stress, Lower Costs and Happier Kids, Without Going to Court. Ten years later that book is still consistently listed among Amazon's top divorce books.

I was fortunate enough to meet him and have lunch with Ron at my first IACP Forum, in San Antonio in 2013. I consider that conversation to be one of the key moments that led me to transform my practice to an exclusively out-of-court practice. Ron challenged me to offer what he termed to be a “client-centered” approach to collaborative practice, where we as professionals listen to the clients to determine which mode of collaborative practice (i.e., attorney-only, neutral facilitator, 2-coach, collaborative mediation, etc.) is best for the family rather than attempt to have a one-size-fits-all mindset. I have taken this idea to heart and been more open to molding a collaborative model to the clients rather than attempting to mold the clients to a collaborative model. Ron also discussed with me a cutting-edge concept, the Collaborative Alliance, which is an Executive Suite that he created specifically for collaborative professionals. This way, the entire team (attorneys, MHPs, and FPs), are all in the same building, supporting one another but also saving the clients a heck of a lot of money in travel costs. This concept is really intriguing, and perhaps represents the future of collaborative practice. While basic collaborative training is highly recommended, it is not required.

The training times are 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on March 4 and 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on March 5th, 2016. Sign-in, continental breakfast and networking begins at 8:30 a.m.
