Developing the Arts Economy Workshop Series

 

This 8- week class starts Thursday, January 21st from 9:30am to 11:30am. 

Workshop 1 – THE PRODUCT – What is my cultural product?
In this workshop, each artist will identify a product that they have to develop over the course of 2 months to bring to market. Throughout the workshop they will develop their product idea against a set of product development principles.

Workshop 2 – NICHE MARKET – Who wants my product?
In this workshop, artists will take the product that they conceived in Workshop 1 and determine who will purchase the product.

Workshop 3 – PROCESS MAP – What is the process to create my product?
In this workshop, artists will take the cultural product and the niche market and combine the data from both to create a PROCESS MAP.

Workshop 4 – PRODUCT DELIVERY SYSTEM – How will my niche market get my product?
Artists have many ways to get products to their markets. In this workshop, you will discover the best ways to place a product on the market to your niche.

Workshop 5 – MARKETING YOUR PRODUCT– How can I use Google & WordPress to market my product?
In this workshop, artists will set up accounts with Google and optimize WordPress products.

Workshop 6 – INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY – How do I protect my work through the Library of Congress?
In this workshop, artists will learn how to register their product with the appropriate government agency under copyright, trademark or patent.

Workshop 7 – CONTRACTS & VENUES –How do I negotiate the terms of the venue?
This workshop will review how to select a good venue and how to create a contract with the venue.

Workshop 8 – PRICING & BUDGET – How much can I charge?

In this workshop artists will create a budget for their product and a personal budget.
