Caring for Fruit Trees

Learning how to properly care for your fruit trees can reward you with a larger, more flavorful crop.  Yum!

Crabapple

Caring for Fruit Trees is the first class in a series of workshops focusing on tree care at the Yakima Area Arboretum this winter and spring. All of the Tree Care Workshops will be taught by local arborist Sean Tait and arboretum staff.

The class will cover the basic needs of fruit trees such as the right amount of watering and fertilizing, and how to properly prune your trees for maximum fruit production.  You will also learn about the common diseases and insects that plague fruit trees in the Yakima area and how to control them.  Organic methods will also be discussed.

This class is a good start to learning how to care for backyard fruit trees and your responsibilities as a fruit tree owner in our commercial fruit growing region.
