The mission of Doc Wayne is to fuse sport and therapy to heal and strengthen at-risk youth. Doc Wayne brings together sports and mental health services and takes a child-centric yet clinically robust approach to helping young people build self-esteem, life skills, and the ability to effect positive change in their lives. Its work has been recognized with such honors as the 2015 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Sports Award, the 2014 Root Cause Social Innovator Award, and the Providers’ Council Innovator of the Year Award.
