  • Family members and friends of the participating couples, as well as the general public, are welcome to attend.
  • A formal invitation (including general information and directions) will be mailed (beginning in April) to the home of the anniversary couple.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.     How is this Mass different than other Masses?

This Mass is the regularly scheduled 11:30 Mass; however, during Mass anniversary couples will be invited to renew their vows and after Mass group photos will be taken with Cardinal Sean.

2.      How will we renew our vows?

After the homily, Cardinal Sean will invite anniversary couples to stand in their pews, face one another, hold hands and repeat the renewal of vows after him. Please click here to preview the Renewal of Vows. You will be provided a copy of the Renewal of the Vows at the Mass.

3.      Will our names be in the program or announced?

Couples who register by September 1, 2016  will have their names printed on the list of anniversary couples. This list will be distributed with the worship aid and Mass material. Unfortunately, due to the number of couples renewing their vows, names will not be announced. You may still register after September 1; however, your names will not appear on the printed list.

4.      Where will I get the materials for the Mass?

The materials for the Mass will be distributed at the front entrance of the Cathedral. If you enter the Cathedral from either of the side doors, please make your way to the front entrance to pick up materials.

5.      May family and friends come with us?

We encourage family and friends to attend and celebrate with you; they do not need to register.

6.      Is there reserved seating for anniversary couples?

Anniversary couples and guests are invited to sit together and may sit anywhere they prefer.

7.      How will the photos be taken?

Group photos (by year of anniversary) will be taken with Cardinal Sean after Mass has ended. Anniversary couples are asked to remain in their pew after the recessional and announcements will be made as to when to come forward for the group photos.

8.      Will we be able to purchase the group photos?

Yes, the photos can be viewed and purchased at The Pilot’s website: www.TheBostonPilot.com. Please click on the link to View & Purchase Photos. Please allow two weeks after the Mass for the photos to be made available online.

9. Can a family or friend take a photo with our camera?

Yes, however, please advise family and friends to remain behind the professional photographer so the professional photo may be taken.

10.  When should we arrive?

The Anniversary Mass will begin at 11:30am. If you would like to arrive early, please be aware that the Cathedral also has a 9:30am Mass. We kindly ask Anniversary Mass attendees to wait until that Mass has ended before entering the sanctuary. We anticipate seating to begin around 10:45am.

11.  Where should we park?

There is a very small lot across the street at the rear of the Cathedral. Please note, however, that most parking is on street parking. When parking, please be aware that some places may be reserved for area residents.

12.  Is the Cathedral handicap accessibile?

There is a ramp and elevator at the Union Street side entrance. You may enter the Church via the ramp (to the lower level) and take the elevator to the upper church. There is also a handicapped accessible restroom at this entrance.

13.  Where are the restrooms at the Cathedral?

Restrooms are located on the lower level of the Cathedral. There are restrooms under the main center entrance via the stairs to the left. There is also a restroom on the lower level near the Union Street side entrance.

14.  Will there be a reception following Mass?

Unfortunately, due to ongoing events and Masses at the Cathedral, there is not a reception following the Mass. There are many restaurants and coffee shops near the Cathedral for the continuation of your celebration.

15.  Someone in my party is hearing impaired, will an interpreter be provided?

Please email Mary Finnigan (mary_finnigan@rcab.org) to arrange for an interpreter. We will remain in touch with you to let you know if one has been arranged and if so, where to sit.
