OAESV & ODVN Legal Access Works Training
The Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network are holding orientation sessions for advocacy organizations on our collaboration to provide on-going legal assistance to survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking.
We will cover information on how to screen and refer survivors in to each of our programs, but we'll also cover other information including:
- How civil attorneys can help survivors of sexual violence, with brief overviews on Title IX educational proceedings, housing, employment and other options
- How advocates can assist survivors without crossing the line into unauthorized practice of law
- Current data on factors which indicate higher risk for serious injury and homicide in domestic violence cases
- Key concepts and strategies for safety planning
- How to help survivors of DV, SV and stalking avoid unintended consequences in protection order cases
- How to help survivors evaluate when consultation with legal counsel is urgent.
Five sessions will be offered; space is limited. All sessions will be 10 am - 3 pm.
