Presenters:

Diana Platt has been with the Kansas City Public Library – Plaza branch for 8 years.  She has represented KCPL at the MLA/KLA conference and is an integral part of the KCPL readers advisory  program.  Diana is currently reading Invasion of the Tearling by Erica Johansen.

Gregg Winsor is a Reference Librarian specializing in Readers’ Advisory for the Johnson County Library. He’s been with JCL since 2006 and enjoys reading literary fiction, noir, and thrillers, among many other genres. He’s married with two children and is astounded that he gets any time to read at all. He believes that you should read Lev Grossman’s THE MAGICIANS if you haven’t already.

April Roy is the Manager of the L.H. Bluford Library, located in the heart of Kansas City’s Urban Core.  April proudly served as a member of the 2012 Caldecott Book Award Jury (A Ball for Daisy) and is a current member of the Coretta Scott King Book Award Jury.  When April isn’t busy being a librarian and reading children’s books and historical fiction, she enjoys cardio kickboxing and seeing new places.  April is a life-long member of the NAACP and recently won the I Love My Librarian Award.  She sometimes has trouble keeping her mouth shut and never turns down a chance to use a microphone to advocate for libraries and library service.

Megan Garrett manages the Westport and Ruiz Branches of the Kansas City Public Library.  She spends her weekends reading terrible vampire romance series, and she doesn’t care what you think about it.

Andie Paloutzian is currently the Story Center Program Manager at the Woodneath Library Center. She has presented on various topics for the Mid-American Library Alliance, the Metro Area Readers Round Table and the RT Booklovers Convention. She started with MCPL in the spring of 2009 at the Boardwalk Branch. She has a background in retail management and sales training, as well journalism.

Angie Strathman is a Readers’ Advisory Librarian at Woodneath Library Center, the newest branch of Mid-Continent Public Library, where she developed the opening day collection. She loves to read and talk about books almost as much as reading them, which led to her passion for readers’ advisory and helping other readers discover a new favorite book, author, or genre.  She has presented on various readers’ advisory topics at MLA and the Celebrate the Book! RA Conference.
