Illinois Epilepsy Advocacy Day

Join us on May 4th, 2016 when we head on down to Springfield to advocate for people impacted by epilepsy – transportation provided for FREE! The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago will be meeting with our State Representatives and Senators to address the need for programs and services to be provided to people with epilepsy, which are at risk due to the potential upcoming budget cuts. We will also be discussing the Senate Access to Affordable Medication Bill (formerly Cap the Co-pay) and the consequences of Step Therapy:

  • The Access to Affordable Medication Bill will amend the Illinois Insurance Code to put a cap on fully-insured patients' out-of-pocket costs for their prescriptions.

  • Step Therapy is the process used by health insurers to control costs. It requires patients to try one or more medications specified by the insurance company, typically a generic or lower cost medicine, to treat a health condition. Patients must then fail on the medication(s) before allowing a "step up" to another medicine that may be more expensive for the insurer.

Our State legislators need to know how much we need their support and how important it is for us to not lose our state funding!

At 11:00 am we will meet at the Capitol's Stratton Cafeteria. Boxed lunches will be provided throughout the day.

We will be loading the bus at 5:45AM on Wednesday 5/4 at EFGC Offices, with a second pick up option at the Hinsdale Oasis at 5800 Tri-State Tollway, Hinsdale IL, 60521 at 6:45AM. RSVP required for transportation.

Bring your family and friends and let your story be heard!
