APICS Tampa Bay March 8, 2016 Professional Development Meering

Topic: "SWOT - Turn it Around"

APICS Tampa Bay, the leading association for supply chain and operations managementinvites local supply chain, operations management, transportation and logistics professionals to our Professional Development Meeting on March 8, 2016 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at the DoubleTree Hotel Tampa Airport Westshore, 4500 W. Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607.

This will be a joint meeting with the Bay Area Manufacturer's Association. Our speaker is Craig Williams, CPIM who will be speaking on the topic of SWOT: Turn it Around.

Effective change management requires strategic planning to identify the vision and path to the future state.  Operations tactical decision-making and actions drive the enterprise from the current status to meet this future state.  At least they're supposed to.  How well this happens is directly influenced by your enterprise's strategic planning policies and procedures.

"SWOT - Turn It Around" is a presentation covering two related concepts: a brief session reviewing effective strategic planning practices and an interactive presentation on TOWS, an updated, advanced version of SWOT.  SWOT for years has been a somewhat effective brainstorming tool.  However, SWOT is a relatively unstructured approach for effective strategic planning.

TOWS takes SWOT and "turns it around" to provide a more structured, time-phased and prioritized approach, adding strategic-to-tactical planning linkages to create an operations "pull" process.  Using TOWS effectively "pulls" your operations tactical planning and decision-making towards your future vision state.

This interactive presentation will have a live, group TOWS exercise to model the process. The principles discussed should be applicable with almost all enterprise activities.
