Please join our lunch time webinar on how water utilities are striving to become resilient with this presentation on the Willamette Water Supply Program.
Abstract: This case study will highlight how Tualatin Valley Water District (TVWD) and the City of Hillsboro are partnering to develop the mid-Willamette River at Wilsonville as an additional water supply source. The new Willamette River water system will be one of Oregon’s most important projects—designed to supply water to more than 300,000 residents and some of the state’s largest employers for the next 100 years. This additional source also improves regional water reliability and redundancy so that if one source is restricted or unavailable, another source can be used. Planning for the Willamette Water Supply is underway, but it will take over a decade to develop the system. Planning, engineering, financing, public outreach and permitting requirements are strategically coordinated since the pipeline will travel more than 30 miles through numerous jurisdictions. This presentation will provide an overview of the project and talk about the benefits of cooperation between multiple water utilities, and how this project will provide these communities significant benefits: excellent finished water quality, redundancy, ownership and control of the supply, year-round reliability, and better value.
