Project Submission Registration
Purpose
To honor design excellence within the Carolinas Chapter and to encourage new, innovative solutions for interior spaces, elevating the design of our Chapter.
Entry Criteria
Any IIDA Professional or Associate member in good standing. Pending members are welcome to submit, but must include a copy of the pending application. Previously awarded projects may not be submitted. All projects must have been completed after January 1, 2014.
Recognition
All award recipients of the competition will be announced at the DesignWorks on Friday, April 22, 2016 at The Venue in Asheville, NC. The winning projects will be displayed on the IIDA Carolinas website.

How to Enter
Upon receipt of the online entry form and payment, an email with your entry number(s) will be sent to the contact person provided. The rules & regulations, file formatting, and a Dropbox invitation will be included in the email. Submissions will be accepted and reviewed via Dropbox.
**Entry deadline is March 18, 2016 for projects to be considered**
Judging Criteria
Submissions will be judged on a point system based on the criteria listed below. Judging will be performed by IIDA professionals outside of the Carolinas Chapter.
Submission Guidelines
- All entries must be submitted in the Dropbox folder and your PowerPoint file shall be named with Category first, followed by Project Name and Number. For example; Commercial_1_First Street Shopping Center.pptx
- A PowerPoint template has been provided with instructions on what each slide should include.
- All project images should be included in the PowerPoint. Each PowerPoint slide may include no more than 2 images.
- Include (1) separate high resolution image in JPEG format that best represents the project. The image should be 300 dpi and 8-1/2x11 in size. This image will be showcased the night of the event, should it be selected as an award recipient.
- All text in the PowerPoint should be Arial font. The size of the text should be maximized for ease of reading.
- The background of the PowerPoint should be white. Do not add any additional graphics.
- When submitting images, remove all title blocks, logos, and firm names from all images. Failure to do so could result in disqualification.
- Entry Kits and materials become the property of IIDA Carolinas Chapter, upon submission, and will not be returned. Graphics will be used in publications for our Chapter.
Judging
Projects will be reviewed by qualified judges on the following criteria.
- Project Description/Design Solution – 10 possible points
- How well are the challenges described? Evaluate problem solving ability and design solution.
- Design Concept - 10 possible points
- Is the overall design concept well established?
- Is the overall image clean and understandable?
- Creativity and Originality – 10 possible points
- Are the ideas well established?
- Is the overall project interpretation original and creative while addressing the project requirements?
- Space Planning – 10 possible points
- Is the space well planned? Is the solution a creative use of space?
- Are furnishings and millwork well planned?
- Lighting – 5 possible points
- Is the artificial lighting solution suitable for the overall design concept?
- Is natural light well incorporated?
- Are the ceiling and lighting well planned into the overall design solution?
- Presentation – 5 possible points
- Does the overall package presentation have visual clarity and order?

Awards will be given in the following categories, and announced at DesignWorks on Friday, April 22, 2016 at The Venue in Asheville, NC.
