Slam Allen was born to sing the blues. He grew up under the tutelage of his multi-talented dad, who migrated to New York from Alabama and started the fabulous “Allen Brothers” blues and soul band. Slam carries that musical family legacy with him. “Wherever I play” says Slam, “people who may never have heard of me before leave the show with the feeling that we are old friends and family.”

Having spent nine years playing with world-renowned blues harp icon James Cotton, and on Cotton’s Grammy nominated album “Giant” in 2011, Slam now leads his own blues bands with the well-earned moniker ‘The Soul Working Man’.

“Put him next to B. B. King, Freddie King, Albert King, Otis Redding, Wilson Picket or James Brown and Slam Allen would not be intimidated. He delivers!”  Frank Mathis – The Country Blues 2000.
