Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability

 

Join Friends of the Parks as we screen parts of the film "Shifting Sands: On the Path to Sustainability" in anticipation of its full release on Earth Day. Shifting Sands is a documentary celebrating the unique legacy of the Indiana Dunes on Lake Michigan's southern shore; it offers insight into the connections between the struggle to preserve Chicago's lakefront and the industry that developed along the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. 

The film explores the diverse ecosystem, takes a journey through the epic history, illustrates the controversial economic and environmental struggles of the past, and explores a new way of thinking about our natural world in tandem with our economy. The results of this journey are gathering unique partnerships and showing movement toward wide scale restoration and sustainability along Lake Michigan's southern shore.
