Standardized Seating Measurement: A Practicum

Thank you for your interest in Ride University. From our registration page you will be able to select which courses you would like to attend. Please see below for more detailed information regarding either of the classes offered this week from Ride University.

Ride Certification Course

This two-day comprehensive wheelchair seating class is specifically designed for the wheelchair mobility and seating professional wishing to be certified in the provision of Ride Custom Seating.

Learn early and late intervention seating strategies, differentiate traditional seating science from orthotic and prosthetic based seating principles, and much more. Regardless of the amount of experience you have, after successful class completion you will be prepared to face a broader range of client seating challenges with new evidence-based seating interventions.

.7 CEUs approved by the University of Pittsburgh.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to take linear and angular measurements of a seated person’s body and their seating support surfaces, based on “A Clinical Application Guide to Standardized Wheelchair Seating Measures of the Body and Seating Support Surfaces, Revised Edition.” This resource manual, developed under the direction of Ms. Waugh, through a grant from the PVA Education Foundation, was written to facilitate the adoption of the principles and measures contained in ISO 16840-:2006 Wheelchair seating – Part 1: Vocabulary, reference axis convention and measures for body segments, posture and postural support surfaces.

RESNA CEU’s:Participants will be eligible to receive .7 CEU’s for the course. CEU’s are provided by RESNA, authorized by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), for an additional cost of $32.00. CEU applications will be available on the day of the course.
