Domestic violence advocates are uniquely aware of the intersection between intimate partner violence and brain injury. Many survivors of physical abuse suffer repeated head injuries - one study of survivors in three domestic violence shelters found that 92% had been hit in the head by their partners, most more than once.
Recognizing the need to continually provide education on these issues, the Brain Injury Association of New York State is partnering with NYSCADV in a collaboration to provide a free regional training in New York, NY for domestic violence advocates.
The training will provide advocates with an introduction to tools and strategies to help them navigate the intersections of domestic violence and brain injury with the survivors they work with. Participants will be provided with:
