Adirondack Birth to Three Alliance Annual Meeting

The Adirondack Birth to Three Alliance is a wide-ranging network of people and organizations involved in the lives of young children and their families. BT3 has united in a single purpose: to fulfill the promise of today’s children to become healthy, thriving, contributing members of their communities.

Please join us for two energetic days of alliance building and professional development. On Friday, you are invited to participate in a meeting of the Alliance membership. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Alliance and work together to make a difference in our community. You will also have the opportunity to become more involved in the ongoing work of BT3.

Saturday offers professional development for early childhood educators and practical information for parents. Learn from renowned speakers and hands-on workshops in an elegant, fun, setting. Indulge yourself at vendor tables. Breakfast and lunch are included. Participation is limited to 100 people.

Our keynote speaker is Dr. Gerard Costa. On Friday, he will present "Building a Community that Honors Infant, Child, and Parent: What Science is Telling Us and How We Can Become Change Agents." On Saturday, he will present "The Emotional Life of the Caregiver: Why We Must Attend to the Needs of Adults Who Care for Infants, Children, and Families." Saturday workshops:

• Outdoor Play: Led by Debbie Strack & Barbara Skiff. Children learn through play and outdoor experiences can be just as important as indoor play. In this hands-on workshop, we will learn how to make developmentally appropriate play stations to engage the minds of children of all ages. Make the most of your space with a water wall, a music wall, and a fairy garden. These projects will fit any size yard or budget! 
• Taming Toddlers: Led by Diane Craft. Channeling toddlers’ energy to participate together in physical activities can seem daunting. Active play is essential for toddlers’ healthy development. Learn strategies for leading loosely structured, non-competitive, fun physical activities that encourage children to explore and experiment with movement. Enjoy playing some of these activities, too!
• Playful Language for Learning. Led by Ann Fraser and Margi Carter. This workshop focuses on playful language and literacy opportunities that support relationships and invite children’s exploration. We will demonstrate creative ways to enrich the language and literacy opportunities for children in every environment. A literacy checklist will identify key areas for language development that will help young children become confident and competent communicators and learners.
• Center for Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning Pyramid Model. Led by Debbie Collette Cromp. Participants will learn to define and describe the social emotional development of infants and toddlers, identify key social emotional skills that contribute to future school readiness, develop greater insight into how supportive relationships and early experiences also help shape brain development, and gain strategies for how to promote social emotional development for all infants and toddlers.
