Target Audience
This course is intended for registered nurses and other local health department workers who are tasked with conducting TB contact investigations.

Conference Goal
The goal of this course is to provide information and education about contact investigation as a TB elimination strategy. It will emphasize the importance of contact investigation as a primary means of TB prevention. Identification of active TB disease by case finding, testing and treatment of contacts, and screening and treating high risk contacts for TB infection will be discussed.

Conference Objectives
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: describe the current CDC contact investigation guidelines, conduct an effective TB interview, initiate and prioritize contact investigations and contacts within an investigation, list the elements of field worker safety, discuss directly observed therapy and its role in the treatment of TB infection, discuss the proper course for handling an investigation, identify the skills necessary to interview contacts, discuss the management of TB infection patients, discuss strategies for improving the treatment completion rate for non-adherent contacts, describe the steps involved in a TB contact investigation in a special setting, and effectively assess the completeness of a contact investigation.

Format
The format for this conference will include lecture presentation with case scenario analysis and skill building exercises with audience discussion and participation. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
