NEW THIS YEAR:

We regret to inform you that we no longer have the funding to provide free webinars to Washington and Oregon residents.  The $30.00 registration fee applies to everyone.  In addition, due to the administrative costs of processing checks and invoices, we are currently only accepting payment by credit card.  We hope you can still join us for this webinar!

People are the experts of their own lives. Through the power of advocacy, we have seen time and again that when people speak up and speak out, they gain more control and a higher quality of life. The disability community and movement are gaining more speed today, in part, due to the efforts of local advocates that continue to shed light on the history of the disability movement and how to gain respect, independence and equality. Come learn more about these local efforts and get inspiration for what is possible in your own community.

Our April webinar will feature a panel of community advocates and activists from two different organizations, Self Advocates of Washington (SAW) and Oregon Self Advocacy Coalition (OSAC). Panel members will offer information and examples of outreach efforts they are involved in within their local communities, including personal stories, a peer education project to help people obtain “real jobs for real pay”, advocacy training for the next generation and education for disability allies and stakeholders about supported decision making.

Who should attend?

People who experience disabilities, their family members and advocates, employment consultants in the supported employment field, education and government service sectors, employers and others interested in learning how to build inclusive communities.
