During our March 30th NW Ohio ISACA chapter meeting Matthew Junod will be giving a live security demonstration. Matt is the Manager of Information Security at the University of Toledo. He holds active certifications as a security (CISSP) and privacy (CIPP/US) professional and has recently received his CISM certification.
Matt will be performing an extraction of the NT domain credential file from an active directory domain controller using freely available tools and cracking of user password hashes based on oclhashcat, a GPU accelerated password cracking tool. A brief description of the techniques, their uses in auditing/security defense situations, and defenses against attacks will be provided.
