Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division Training: Denial and Resistance

Content: This workshop deals with the diverse and often inaccurate assumptions of denial and resistance. A number of ideas will be examined to help the participant more accurately determine true resistance from other types of behavior. Particular attention will be given to the “Denial Decision Tree”, and how that assessment tool can produce a more accurate representation of client behavior. The participant will walk away from the workshop with new ideas about the nature of addiction resistance and better methods to engage it.

Facilitator: Mike Taleff, Ph.D., CSAC; Dr Taleff, is national known educator and trainer in substance abuse and mental health services. He is an author and contributor to clinical magazines and research.

Target Audience: Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), and applicants; those with other ADAD professional credentials; and anyone involved in the human services field.
