Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby
Join the Wankinquoah R&G Club for the annual Tihonet Pond Fishing Derby, a great day for family, fishing, and fun.
The Derby will be held Sunday, June 5. Check-in begins at 4 a.m. and continues throughout the day. Fishing begins at 6 a.m., weigh-in is from 6 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., raffles and awards are at 2 p.m.
It’s a terrific day, whether you’re a serious fisherman or you just want to enjoy some fun with your kids. It’s amazing to see entire families enjoying the day on the pond.
“It’s a great way to support the associate program and the traditions of the Club. All the associates work hard to make sure everything is ready for a good day of fishing.” Shayla Foote, immediate past Associate President. "The associates are responsible for everything from selling bait to getting donations for the raffle prizes." Foote continued.
The derby falls on the Massachusetts Free Fishing Weekend, therefore, fishing licenses are not required this year. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories for adults and juniors.
The fee is $12 for adults and $3 for children age 14 and younger. The fee includes breakfast. Lunch and bait are available for purchase. This year's Grand Raffle Prizes include a 10' Jon Boat with a Trolling Motor (over $900 value), Necky Manitou Sport Kayak with Rod Holder (over $900 value), and Four Pre-season New England Patriots Tickets (over $200 value). Take a chance and purchase a raffle ticket for $5 each. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wankinquoah R & G Club Youth Group.
