Creating Your Web Presence

Having a presence on the Web is almost a requirement for small businesses today. It starts with a web site, but leveraging the Internet doesn’t end there.

You’re not ready to hire a professional web design company, but you know you need something, right now.

In this workshop, you will learn everything you need to know to have a great web site this week. New technology makes it really easy, and the cost to get started can be surprisingly low.  We will answer questions such as:

  • How do I get my web site going?
  • What is the best technology?
  • How do I get people to come to my site?
  • How do I find a web designer I can trust?
  • What are Twitter, Facebook and blogging all about?
  • How do I create a blog?
  • Now that I have a blog, what do I write?

David Watson has owned and operated several web development/application businesses.

-- BTS Webworks was formed in 1997 in response to the recognition that a young World Wide Web was the new business frontier. BTS developed web sites and online systems for small- and medium-sized business and organizations, growing to service over 150 diverse clients. During this period, the importance of establishing a web present grew from being a fad to become a necessity. The need to design more complex presentations continuously expanded, and included programming online systems and tools for product and data management, as well as eCommerce systems supported by search engine optimization and social media marketing.

-- In 2013, BTS Webworks was sold after spinning off two new companies, which are still growing today: Lux Learning Management System, a continuing education content and data management software; and ProComplianceWare, an online system designed to assist small businesses in managing compliance regulations. Both these entities allow clients to be more cost and time efficient.
