Purpose

Participants will engage in a learning opportunity that highlights the importance of autonomy in healthcare decision making, and be able to share best practices learned with colleagues. 

Target Audience

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, and other interested healthcare professionals. 

Objectives

1. 1. Demonstrate steps to implementation of standing orders within a variety of clinical settings to increase immunization rates within a particular health care practice setting. 
2. Analyze an Iowa mumps outbreak for opportunities for healthcare collaboration with local, state, and national partners. 
3. Identify vaccine preventable illness case studies where immunizations could have prevented serious illness or complications

 Accreditation/CME, CEU

 This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Iowa Medical Society (IMS) through the joint sponsorship of Genesis Medical Center and the Iowa Immunization Coalition. Genesis Medical Center is accredited by the IMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Genesis Medical Center designates this Live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits^TM.  Physicians should claim only credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CEU IA:  6.5 contact hours will be awarded by Iowa Board of Nursing Provider #59, Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.

IL Nursing:  May use the IA CEU certificate for license renewal.  Because this program has been approved by the Iowa Medical Society for CME credit, it may be used for 5.5 contact hours toward only recertification requirements for ANCC continuing education renewal.

All others: May be eligible for 6.5 contact hours of continuing education.  Consult your governing rules to determine if appropriate subject matter criteria will apply to credit hours.

 Parking

 Participants may not park in the parking lot (garage) between the Heart Institute and the Medical office buildings as that is reserved for patients. Participants may use the north lot behind the Edgerton's Women's Health Center. “Event Parking” signs will be posted to direct participants.
