Phase I: Building a Safe Place for Men
To help you get ready for the Class of 2016-B Phase-1 Training on Saturday, May 14, 2016, here are some facts and general information that you'll find useful.
Our Society is in crisis because ... The Church is in crisis because … Families are in crisis because … Men are in crisis ... BECAUSE • Only 33% of men attend church
Congregation Gender Gap
• Men are finding their identity outside of the church • 95% of Christian men do not have close male friends • The Church is not considered as a masculine (safe) place for men • Men have a distorted image of God because they see Him through the lens of their earthly father
Exactly what is the "program" and how long does it take?
The Wesleyan Building Brothers Process is not a program like so many we're accustomed to in church life, but rather, it is a process of building relationships among participating brothers, mano-a-mano.
The desired results of the process cannot be accomplished in just a weekend seminar! This is a life-changing PROCESS in the context of building relation-ships with one-another. We have found that it takes about a year to complete the process.
The Wesleyan Building Brothers Process is presented in four separate phases. Each Phase is comprised of an intensive, interactive one-day training session, approximately one each calendar quarter. Each phase of your training is followed by about 11 weeks of extended group interaction and discovery with the men of your church’s WBB group. Each weekly meeting is guided by a tried-and-proven outline published in your Phase Training workbook that is included in the registration fee.
How can The Wesleyan Building Brothers Process help?
When Christ laid the foundation for the Church, He chose 12 men and reproduced His passion and heart in them. They carried this reproduction model into the first-century
Church and turned the world upside-down! Isn't it time for us to apply this same model to today’s Church? That is the goal of The Wesleyan Building Brothers Process . . . to call the male leaders in your church, in partnership with the pastor, to come together in the pursuit of God, grow to spiritual maturity and then reproduce that same process in other men.
A key element in this reproduction process is establishing a clearly defined pathway to lead men from spiritual immaturity to spiritual fatherhood. For starters, the answer to how The Wesleyan Building Brothers Process can help in solving these crises that exist in Society, Church, Family and Men, will be among the main topics in the upcoming Phase-1 Training at West Point UMC on Saturday, May 14.
Who should sign-up for Phase-I Training?
ALL men who believe that "men are fundamental to the church," should plan to attend this one-day event! Simply put, it's for all men — clergy and laity! — that has an appetite for service and continued growth in their spiritual maturity, and a heart for intentional discipleship with other men of the church.
