Can't make it to City Hall on April 15, and still want to support the Walk Around the Block and our call for early care and education teachers to be paid on par with K-12?
What can you do?
1. Take a moment to write a letter to the editor to let the San Francisco community know how important ECE is, that the Week of the Young Child is coming up April 10-16, and the Walk Around the Block is on April 15. Here's how. You can see a sample letter to the editor here.
You can also send a letter to your Supervisor. Do you know yours? Here’s a list.
Hold a day—or the whole week—for teachers, parents, and your community to write letters at your site.
2. Learn the Walk chants and songs. Click here to check out this year's list so far. Make up your own and add to our list!
Some favorites:
Teachers can't afford to stay,
Parents can't affor to pay,
We need a better way!
To the tune of Row, Row, Row your boat:
Pay, Pay, Pay teachers well
'Cuz they're parents too!
If you want your child to learn,
What are you gonna do?
3. Hand out flyers and English, Chinese and Spanish.
4. Tweet your support.
