Summer 2016

June 11, July 16, and August 13, 2016

We are pleased to announce the Summer 2016 Outdoor Classroom Project Specialist Level I Training Series in Northern California.  This inspiring and educational training series will provide early childhood professionals a unique opportunity to acquire enhanced skills for cultivating and sustaining the Outdoor Classroom at their centers. The Specialist Level I Training consists of three full-day Saturday workshops.  The first workshop in the series will be held at Bright Horizons at Garner. The second workshop will be held at West Valley College Child Development Center which is an Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration Site in Northern California.  As part of the training experience, participants will have the unique opportunity to explore the grounds and see the application of Outdoor Classroom philosophy in the play yard design at this wonderful center.

Initiated in 2003 by the Child Educational Center, Caltech/JPL Community in Southern California with a grant from First 5 L.A., the Outdoor Classroom Project has worked with hundreds of centers and thousands of teachers. Currently there are over sixty Outdoor Classroom Project Demonstration and Recognized centers in Southern California and two Demonstration Sites in Northern California.  Formal networks currently operate in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties with centers in Orange, Ventura, Marin, Santa Clara, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles counties. For more information, please visit our website outdoorclassroomproject.org
