Colgate 26 Racing - Series 2 - June/July

The Colgate 26 Racing Program  provides sailors with an opportunity to pit their sailing skills against other skippers and crews in the exciting forum of Wednesday night racing at Monroe Harbor. Sailors will learn the basic rules of racing, helmsmanship, advanced sail trim, flying the spinnaker, and working together as a team bring your boat across the finish line fast, safe, and in style.

The course includes a pre-racing seminar and two weeks of training before the racing begins.  Sailors new to racing may sign up as crew, experienced skippers may sign up as individuals, or consider reserving the boat for an entire series and recruit their own crew.

Series 2 (June-July): Dates are June 22, June 29, July 6, and July 13 (4 weeks).

Pre-Sail Orientation: TBD

Practice Sessions: May 11 and May 18

Join our racing fleet of seven Colgate 26s and their crews, and learn how to work the foredeck, trim the jib, trim the main, work the halyards in the pit, and take the helm, and when you’re not busy, hanging out on the weather rail to balance the boat.

Skipper: Sail Chicago Skippers with racing experience or sailors new to Sail Chicago with equivalent racing experience.

Crew: Must have completed one on-the-water sailing course or equivalent experience.

What’s Included: Pre-Racing Orientation Seminar, U.S. Sailing’s Racing Rules of Sailing, two sessions of on the water racing training, 4 weeks of Wednesday night races.

Cost: $200 per four week series per individual ($150 for Sail Chicago members); $600 for a skipper to reserve the boat for a four week series. If you reserve the boat, your crew is subject to the eligibility requirements above.
