OAI and Great Lakes Biomimicry present 1st Annual
National
Biomimicry Summit and Education Forum (BSEF)
for Aerospace
in collaboration with NASA

The Registraton deadline for this event has been extended to Friday,
July 29th, but seats are limited.

Please register today!

If you are interested in exploring the power of biomimicry to unlock innovation, this Forum is for you. Over the course of more than 30 presentations and interactive sessions (see Agenda here), you will learn about a multitude of ways nature's 3.8 billion years of R&D is inspiring space exploration, robotics, materials development and redevelopment, communication technology, architecture, and much more.

Located on the campus of OAI, join other scientists, educators, designers, and business innovators to hear first-hand what is on the cutting edge of biomimicry research and application and how the solution space becomes wide-open for groundbreaking results when you look to nature for inspiration.

Special Events: Evening Receptions

We are pleased to offer two great opportunities to attend fun and informative evening receptions. The cost for these events is $35 per person, per event, and guests are welcome, but registration is required. (Transporation will be provided.)

Hurry! Registration ends at 5 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

  • Tues., August 2nd:
Reception at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
featuring Biomimicry in Our Backyard, a presentation by Rebecca Eagle-Malone, Biomimicry Ph.D., University of Akron
Genius is all around us. Every time we walk in the forest or pick up a shell, we connect with nature's ability to perfectly design exactly what is needed - no more, no less - and do it with a few simple elements, and without waste. Rebecca will highlight the genius in organisms found at the Zoo and explain how their unique characteristics can inform solutions for creative design. Come meet some of nature's genius.

  • Weds., August 3rd:
Reception at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History
featuring Fossil Doesn't Equal Failure, a presentation by Stephen Howe, Biomimicry Ph.D., University of Akron
    The
current Biomimicry paradigm marginally considers evolution, extinction, and the history of life on earth. By widening the lens to include 99.9% of the natural world that no longer exists, we enrich the exploration of biomimicry and its potential and power for application. Be part of the conversation as Stephen expands the perspective that unlocks the historical context surrounding the extant models we mimic today.
