Hotel Reimbursement

Hotel reimbursement is available for those participants who attended both the Information Security Workshop and E&IT Accessibility Workshop. Reimbursement is being provided by the High Tech Center Training Unit program and requires participants to include the following:

Original receipts must be submitted.
If paying by credit/debit card, the receipt must show the type of card that was used. If a Visa card was used, the receipt needs to show the last four digits of the card number. If no credit/debit card receipt exists, then a copy of your credit card statement, showing your name and the transaction (other transactions redacted), is acceptable.
If paying by check, a copy of the cancelled check is acceptable.
If paying by cash, a signed written statement to that effect must be submitted.

July 26 - Electronic and IT Accessibility Workshop

The CCC Accessibility Center, in partnership with the High Tech Center Training Unit, presents the inaugural Electronic and IT Accessibility Workshop. The workshop will emphasize strategies and solutions for incorporating accessibility into electronic and information technology practices at the college and district level.

Presentations included: The campus role of Section 508 and access vs. accommodations, electronic and information technology policy development, purchasing accessible electronic and information technology, tools and techniques for accessible websites, and strategies for building IT access for the college and district-wide.

Presenters:

Gaeir Dietrich

Gaeir Dietrich is the Director of the High Tech Center Training Unit of the California Community Colleges. The HTCTU provides training and support for community college faculty and staff wishing to acquire or improve teaching skills, methodologies, and pedagogy in Assistive Computer Technology, Alternate Media and Web Accessibility. From 2010–2011, Gaeir served as the chair for the National Advisory Commission on Accessible Instructional Materials in Postsecondary Education, where she represented two year colleges. The commission studied the current state of accessible materials for students with disabilities in postsecondary education and made recommendations to the U.S. Congress for improving access to and the distribution of instructional materials in accessible formats.

Sean Keegan

Sean Keegan provides guidance and direction to the CCC Accessibility Center, a resource of CCC Technology Center. The CCC Accessibility Center provides expertise, resources, and technical assistance to advance the accessibility of electronic and information technology in the CCC. Previously, Sean was the Associate Director for Assistive Technology in the Office of Accessible Education (OAE) at Stanford University, directing the implementation and campus-wide support of assistive technology for students with disabilities and the alternate format production program.
