SCORE Houston Chapter in partnership with Small Business Administration and Houston Office of Business Opportunity present this workshop designed to help small businesses not only survive but thrive in the current economy.

The participants will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a SCORE mentor and representatives from SBA and Houston OBO to discuss their unique situation. They will also meet and network with other small businesse owners who are facing similar challenges.

The Workshop will be presented in two parts:
How to obtain a contract with the city of Houston

With hundreds of millions of dollars being awarded annually through City departments, knowing where to go for contracting information can seem overwhelming. Attend this workshop and see how you can make it through the maze of City contracting. You’ll find out what types of products and services are purchased, types of certifications you need to do business with the City of Houston, and how their procurement process works.

Presented by: Will Norwood
Will is the Business Development Manager for the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity.
Mr. Norwood is responsible for assisting small, minority, and women owned businesses in navigating through the procurement process of the City of Houston. In addition, Mr. Norwood assists companies by providing business programs to help build their capacity and identifying additional public and private sector contract opportunities in the Greater Houston Area.

Understanding The SBA Certification Programs

The government offers many tools to help small businesses build their potential to compete more successfully, not only in the global economy, but in the federal sector as well.
As the owner of a small business, you may qualify for specific SBA federal procurement enhancement programs based on a variety of factors including location and/or being socially and economically disadvantaged.
Register now and find how to qualify for the 8(a), HUBZone, and WOSB programs (Women Owned Small Business/Economically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business).
