NeighborWorks Day 2016 

oin us for a day of giving back to the community. Events include rehabbing and repairing homes, painting and landscaping properties, conducting neighborhood tours, recognizing successful partnerships, and hosting events that educate, train and inform.

This year's projects include:

West Humboldt Park - Block Blitz

The residents of the 900 block of N. Drake will be partnering with NHS corporate volunteers to do a block blitz of the 900 block of N. Drake. To help us beautify the block we will be doing landscaping improvements for participating homeowners, many of whom are seniors.  

Roseland (Rosemoor) - Block Beautification Project: 100th and Cottage Grove

Traditional NeighborWorks project which will include: clean up, landscaping, fence painting, planting flowers, and painting the exterior light post. This project will take place on Saturday, June 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Auburn Gresham - Block Club Sign Installation Project

The blocks of 7500 of Green west to Aberdeen, and the 7600, 7700 and 7800 blocks of Aberdeen and Carpenter will receive a block club sign and pant. The blocks will also be given some TLC with lawn maintenance and trash removal. The event will culminate at the Christian Hope church parking lot at 7600 Aberdeen.  

Chicago Lawn/Gage Park - Reclaim Southwest Chicago Campaign: Community Action

This event is a celebration of the work that has been done since the Reclaim Southwest Chicago Campaign began. The event will include a tour and a meeting/rally with several hundred people from within and outside the community. This event is a demonstration of community progress, recognition of progress since the project began in spring of 2012, and a celebration of community. Volunteers are not needed for this event.

Englewood - DIY Plumbing and Home Repair Workshop - U.S. Bank, 815 W. 63rd St. 

Residents will receive instruction on how to complete plumbing and basic home repairs. There will also be an overview of the Englewood MMRP program and the homeownership process. The workshop will include a bicycle raffle and other give-a-ways. The rain won't stop the Englewood NeighborWorks Day. However, if the rain is unbearale, the activity will be moved indoors to the 4th floor of the U.S. Bank Building.  

South Suburbs - 3rd Annual Community Resource Fair and Flower Giveaway

The event will highlight area nonprofit organization and local businesses that provide an array of services to families. Services beneficial to individuals of all ages will be presented including: health care, energy assistance, local and state government, transportation, employment assistance and more. This event is a great opportunity for residents to gather information from all of the essential resources in one place and take away a flat of flowers to beautify their homes.

Fox Valley - Neighborhood Beautification Project: Near West Neighborhood, Elgin

Work projects will consist of exterior painting, trash clean-up of surrounding blocks and landscaping, lawn mowing/gardening for neighborhood homes. This project will take place on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The meeting and registration location is St. Edward Central High School located at 335 Locust Street Elgin, IL 60123.
