Youth Engagement Institute
Please join us for our August 22-23 Youth Engagement Institute at the Neutral Zone Teen Center. This 2-day training will prepare your organization to integrate youth-driven practices into your programs to increase youth engagement, and support development of 21st century skills. We design our workshops to be active, engaging and focused on practical strategies and practices that can be directly applied in schools, libraries, community organizations or health centers.
Youth thrive when they have a voice and engage in genuine decision-making. We empower youth by supporting organizations to develop new practices that lead to a culture of youth and adult partnerships. Teen Advisories are an effective means of providing youth the structure and support they need to play a meaningful role as decision-makers in their community. As a result of the training participants will:
- Identify meaningful roles youth can play in programs
- Learn the components and stages of Neutral Zone’s Teen Advisory Council
- Examine participatory research processes as a way to engage youth
- Learn and use planning strategies that can be applied to involving students in projects
- Understand the components of youth-adult partnerships (YAP) and how to support YAP
- Practice strategies, including scaffolding and divergent questioning to effectively support youth-driven initiatives
Plus, you’ll receive a copy of the Teen Advisory Council guidebook, a practical guide for starting and supporting an Advisory.
