On Wednesday, May 18, 2016, the United States Department of Labor published its much anticipated final overtime rules relating to the “white-collar” exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The rules will go into effect on December 1, 2016, and will affect virtually every employer in Maine.

Please join us for this interactive workshop, where we will discuss the new rules and help you develop a workable plan to implement them, including:

  • What is new and what has not changed;
  • What is included in the definition of “salary” and “pay”;
  • How to identify employees whose exemption status may change;
  • Ways to address changes in exempt/non-exempt status;
  • How to communicate needed changes to employees;
  • Strategies for changing compensation structures in response to the new rules;
  • Impact on employment contracts and collective bargaining agreements;
  • How to review and update job descriptions;
  • What policy, timekeeping and recordkeeping changes are needed; and
  • Issues that will impact particular sectors (public, non-profit, and higher education).

During this workshop you will have an opportunity to get your specific questions about the new rules and how they affect your workplace answered.

Space is limited – register today.

Dan Rose, Ann Chapman, Laurel McClead and Jeana McCormick look forward to discussing the legal and practical aspects of these new rules with you.
