Hamilton Post Budget Breakfast

Each year CPAG provides child-focused commentary and analysis of the years budget. The aim is to provide an accessible and affordable avenue for the community to learn how the budget affects children and young people, especially our most vulnerable who live in poverty.

CPAG and Poverty Action Waikato are pleased to be working together to hold this event with key sponsors Anglican Action Hamilton and D.V. Bryant Trust.

Lunch will be provided.

Spaces are limited, so register now!

Guest Speakers

Martin Thrupp: Martin is the head of Te Whiringa School of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Waikato. Martin's main research interests are in education policy and its lived effects across New Zealand's socially diverse and unequal communities. Martin is also on the working group for Poverty Action Waikato and will be reflecting on their latest report Neglect and Nurture by Dr Anna Casey-Cox and Dr Rose Black.

Alan Johnson: CPAG's housing expert. Alan currently works as a social policy analyst for The Salvation Army's Social Policy & Parliamentary Unit.  He is author of  A Mountain All Can Climb which is The Salvation Army's 2015 State of the Nation report. He has also held positions as a trustee of the Auckland Community Housing Trust and as the Chair of Community Housing Aotearoa.

This event is part of CPAG's Nationwide Budget Breakfast Series being held in seven main centres - Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson, Dunedin and Christchurch.

CPAG also intends to provide a comprehensive budget review shortly after the budget is released.  Visit www.cpag.org.nz to get your copy on Friday 27 May.
