Cares is an innovative center dedicated to supporting the development of resilient, emotionally healthy children. The center is also focused on training, research, and community outreach. Led by members of UCLA's world-renowned mental health programs, the UCLA CARES Cener is developing new and improved strategies to help children, parents, clinicians, and community members better engage with one another to reduce the burden of childhood anxiety.
Selective Mutism Group Annual Conference 2016
The Selective Mutism Group is proud to offer our annual conference this year in Manhattan Beach, California. This year's conference will be co-sponsored by the UCLA Center for Child Anxiety Resilience Education and Support (CARES).
We are excited to announce Dr. Lindsey Bergman, Ph.D., as our Keynote Speaker. Dr. Bergman is author of the book Treatment for Children with Selective Mutism: An Integrative Behavioral Approach. Her keynote address subject is Integrated Behavior Therapy for Selective Mutism: Description and Deconstruction.
The conference will offer both a parent and a professional track. In addition, we will be offering continuing education for professionals, a kids camp, a bookstore that provides the latest resources in SM, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will be used directly by SMG to continue to educate and connect individuals impacted by Selective Mutism.

Lunch: There are several restaurants and eateries within walking distance of the Manhattan Beach Marriott.
Transportation to event: Public transportation is available from the Los Angeles International airport via taxi or Uber. The Manhattan Beach Marriott is about 3 miles from the airport.
Parking: Please use the self-parking garage located behind the hotel. A special conference parking rate of $13 is available for conference attendees. Please enter the hotel lobby from the parking garage for directions to our meeting rooms.
Kids camp: We are offering a non therapeutic kids camp for children over 3 years old, that will need childcare services. The cost is $60.00. The kids camp will be located close to the conference rooms in the conference center. Please note the camp is a safe, fun place for children to go while their parents attend the conference. The camp does not provide individual treatment for children. Lunch is available for children at kids camp for $10.00 per child. Alternatively, parents may take their children out to lunch with them.
Hotel Options: We encourage you to make your hotel reservations as early as possible in order to get the lowest rates and ensure availability. Manhattan Beach is a busy city, and room rates will rise as the conference date approaches.
