Come learn about Nova Scotia’s natural heritage, our forests!  Enjoy tasty burgers and salads and enjoy a local brew with friends.

Matt Miller, forester and Forestry Coordinator at the Ecology Action Centre, will explore the uniqueness of Nova Scotia’s Acadian forest ecosystem, discuss some of the threats facing our forests and the people and wildlife that rely on them, and highlight some of the exciting, innovative forest sustainability initiatives happening across the province.

Matt will be joined by Billy McDonald, long-time nature educator and founder of Redtail Nature Awareness and Tom Miller (Matt’s father), president of the Friends of Redtail Society, 40-year veteran of the Nova Scotia forest sector and early advocate for ecologically-based forestry.

Billy and Tom will share stories of their time in the backwoods of Nova Scotia and the story of the Friends of Redtail Society’s efforts to reclaim, re-vision and restore our relationship with the forest.

By the end of the evening you will have a new appreciation for our forests, a stronger connection to nature and a greater understanding of how you can play a positive role in shaping the forest around you.

Funds raised will support the Friends of Redtail Society - friendsofredtail.ca/
