Strong Bonds: Supporting our Military and Veteran Families.
Clinical Work with Military Families. 

This workshop will review key adaptations to behavioral health treatments when working with military and Veteran families. Attention will be paid to both resiliencies and challenges for these families. The workshop will review adaptations to various stages in treatment such as assessment and intervention. Additionally, time will be spent focused on specific interventions for couples and families.

Association for Mental Health and Wellness, Inc. SW CPE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #0156.

*New York State Office of the Professions (NYSED) regulations require that participants attend the entire approved educational activity in order to receive continuing education credits, from 9:00am - 12:00pm.

ABOUT DR. MAYER BELLEHSEN

Dr. Mayer Bellehsen is the Director of the Northwell Health: Feinberg Division of the Unified Behavioral Health Center for Military Veterans and their Families. This site is a first-of-its kind clinic that seeks to model a new approach for collaboration between the Veterans Health Administration and the private health sector when treating Veterans and their families. At this site, Dr. Bellehsen oversees and delivers mental health services to Veterans, active duty military members, and family members who struggle with the challenges of reintegration into civilian life and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dr. Bellehsen is also the Principal Investigator for a pilot randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of Transcendental Meditation as an adjunctive therapy for PTSD.

Dr. Bellehsen received his PhD from Yeshiva University in Clinical Psychology with a Health Emphasis. During his studies, he specialized in the area of trauma and PTSD as it affects individuals and couples. He completed his pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at The North Shore-LIJ Health System: Zucker Hillside Hospital where he further specialized in the treatment of Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
