BABYSITTER TRAINING for Students age 12 and up
Learn how to care for babies and children safely and responsibly. Includes: accident prevention, fire safety, emergencies, kids at different ages, and employer/employee responsiblilites. Successful participants receive a certificate. Students must be 12 years of age within two months of the workshop. Please note that a nut free, bagged lunch and drink are required. If your child has any allergies or health concerns the facilitator should be aware of, please call the office at 204-284-9311 after registration is completed.

READY, SET, SOLO! For Students age 11 and up, along with a parent
Together, you and your child create a plan for your child to stay at home alone safely and confidently. Discuss concerns as they relate to your family, create guidelines, and increase communication between you and your child. Includes: home safety, family rules, emergencies, and strangers. In Manitoba, children must not be left home alone until they are 12 years of age.

BASIC STUDY SKILLS FOR STUDENTS
Students learn how to be more organized and better prepared for tests and school work. Students identify their preferred learning style (visual, auditory, tactile) and learn about strategies for each style. This program is not for students that require extra support in a learning environment.

For Parents of Children ages 0 to 12
Learn simple and practical strategies to help confidently manage your child's behaviour, prevent problems, and build strong, healthy relationships. Child minding is not available.
Date: Thursdays, for 3 weeks, September 29, October 6, October 13

For Parents of Children with special needs age 12 and under
Learn how to: Build positive relationships with your child; Teach new skills; Set rules and give clear instructions; Respond to misbehaviours consistently and decisively; Use discipline strategies; Plan to avoid or manage potentially difficult situations. This program is for families with children who have developmental delay, sensory or physical disabilities. An assessment or diagnosis is not required to participate.
Date: Mondays, for 6 weeks from January 9 through February 13
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Fee: $60.00 per person or $70.00 per couple
Register Now!Circle of Security Parenting, conducted by a registered facilitator, is a relationship based parenting program that will help parents increase the attachment security of their children. Research shows that children who feel more secure tend to have; Increased empathy; Healthy Self-Esteem, Positive relationships; and a greater ability to manage their emotions more effectively. This program will help parents learn new ways to understand, and respond to, their children's needs and behaviors.
Date: Mondays, for 8 weeks from October 17 to December 12
(Please note: There is no class on October 31)

PARENTING STRATEGIES AND ADHD
For Parents of Children ages 6 - 12 with ADHD
Explore parenting strategies such as effective communication, and positive approaches to discipline that will strengthen your relationship with your child. Topics include: Teaching new skills; Defining rules; Responding to challenging behaviors consistently; Planning for potentially difficult situations; and Being a strong advocate for your child's needs. Families are not required to provide confirmation of diagnosis, but the program is not for families undergoing an assessment process.

ANXIETY IN CHILDREN (for Parents) - presented by A.D.A.M.
Do you have a child that is anxious? Join the Anxiety Disorders Association of Manitoba to explore the different aspects of childhood anxiety, including signs and symptoms, thought patterns, and different types of anxiety. Learn about ways to help a child who is struggling with anxiety.

presented by S.E.R.C.
For Parents with Children ages 7-12
Presented by the Sexual Education Resource Centre of MB, parents will gain confidence and learn how to talk openly with your adolescent child about issues related to reproductive health, body development in children and sexuality, with emphasis on good decision making, critical thinking and self respect.

Register Now!PARENT EDUCATOR
This individualized one-on-one service will provide you, in your role of parent, with an opportunity to focus on challenges you are experiencing with your child. In conversation with our parent educator, Lori Chrol, you will identify areas of your parent/child relationship that are problematic and receive effective approaches you can use immediately.
Appointments are required. For details or to book an appointment please contact us at 284-9311. Fee: $45.00 per hour.
Refund Policy: If you withdraw from the program 7 days or more prior to the start date, you will receive a refund of your course fee less a $5 administration fee. After this time, or once the program has started, no refunds will be made. If we cancel a course, you will receive a full refund.
Payment must be received 7 days prior to the workshop start date. If payment has not been received, you may lose your spot in the workshop.
Registration for Children and Youth programs: Please ensure that you register only your own child. If your child has a friend who would also like to attend that child's family must complete the registration for them.
