CLEF 2016-2017 Curriculum Series

Information and Registration

Literacy Essentials

Content:

Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation (CLEF) and Concordia University Chicago's Center for Literacy are proud to present the 2016-2017 Curriculum Series addressing Literacy Essentials.  The goal of this program is to provide professional teacher support in effective literacy instruction and organization.  This series will address grade level, content area and student needs. By participating in this series, Lutheran school teachers will strengthen their foundational skills in five key areas of literacy instruction.

Literacy Essentials

  • Affective Factors
  • Word Work
  • Fluency
  • Vocabulary
  • Comprehension

Teachers who register for and participate in all five professional learning sessions will receive a visit from a literacy coach who will provide an in-classroom individualized literacy coaching support session to foster implementation of the essentials.

Space is limited to 60 participants.  Registration will be on a first come first serve basis, however, please make sure you can attend all the sessions.

Participants in CLEF Professional Development activities receive Evidence of Completion forms to document that they have earned professional development hours.  In the past, attendees only had to sign the attendance sheet.  The Illinois State Board of Education now requires that attendees include their Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN) number on the attendance sheet.  Evidence of Completion forms are not given unless your IEIN number is provided.

Educators can find their IEINs in their ELIS accounts. Please click here for link.  You will need this number in order to register.  If you are not licensed in the state of Illinois and therefore do not have an IEIN number, simply enter N/A in the IEIN field.

A complimentary pizza dinner will be served prior to each session, starting at 5:30p.m.  Class will start promptly at 6:00p.m.

Professional Development Hours (PDHs, formerly known as CPDUs)  are available to all attendees.

DEADLINE :

REGISTRATION IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.  WE HAVE AN ABSOLUTE LIMIT OF 60.
