Stream Discovery Spring 2016 Workshop Makanda

The Stream Discovery Program is an introductory stream monitoring program for grades 5-12 that provides students with the opportunity to assess water quality in their community by monitoring macroinvertebrates and water chemistry in a local stream. Water quality data are then uploaded to National Geographic’s FieldScope mapping & data platform for comparison with student data in other IL watersheds.

The workshop will be at the Touch of Nature Enivronmental Center, 1206 Touch of Nature Rd, Makanda, IL 62958. The workshop will be in the Indian Building. Lunch is included.

Participants must register and complete payment by September 8th. No refunds will be issued after September 8th.

Six professional development hours are available at no extra cost through this workshop, please bring your Illinois Educator Identification Number (IEIN) to complete the required forms.

Please bring clothes appropriate for wading in a small stream. Old tennis shoes are best, rubber boots will also work.

If you need to contact the Stream Discovery trainer the day of the event, please call Matthew Young's cell phone at 501-258-1360.
