Please join us 7th September at the 2016 AWID Forum at the Costa do Sauipe in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil for an interactive, "get out of your seat" theater performance and learning session about the possibilities for the embodied empowerment of girls through exploring sexuality, gender, power and pleasure in their lives.

Because the UN has made child, early and forced marriage a sustainable development priority, we will learn about efforts from around the globe to better understand their impact on health, educational opportunities and economic prosperity.

Because this problem impacts the body and effects our ability to fully realize our potential, we will use our bodies and imaginations.

Because it’s a hard issue to talk about, we will practice talking.

This inspiring and engaging session will feature BodyWise Dance troupe as they apply dance to real life, portraying sexuality and gender inequality in adolescent girls' lives and building on the work of:

  • Archana Dwivedi, Nirantar, India
  • Dorothy Aken’Ova, INCRESE, Nigeria
  • Alejandra Colom, Population Council, Guatemala
  • Marcos Nascimento, Fiocruz, Brazil
  • Anthony Keedi, ABAAD, Lebanon
  • Rachel Jacobson, International Policy, International Women's Health Coalition
  • Dhana Kumari Chowdhury, Siddartha Samuyadayik Samaj, Nepal; from CARE's Tipping Point Project

...and participation by all in attendance is encouraged!

Kindly register by Monday, 22nd August as space is limited.
