Seven Boston Chefs take on a Culinary Challenge to Support Hunger-Relief
Our society generates more than enough food to serve our nutritional needs, but often food is discarded due to oversupply, post-harvest handling, and ineffective distribution models; failing to reach the homes and mouths of many members of our local neighborhoods. Our community 'Partners' and their respective organizations work tirelessly to break that pattern through food rescue work, food donations, on-farm gleaning and innovative distribution models.
On the evening of Thursday, August 18th, Boston chefs focused on bettering our communities will demonstrate what can be done with what is usually and unnecessarily discarded ingredients to create restaurant-caliber dishes that delight the senses.
This collaboration between farmers, gleaners and chefs will result in a cornucopia of seasonal dishes, hand-selected wines, hyper-local beers that will tantalize the palate and lift the spirit. The same chefs will also be available to socialize, inspire and inform guests as to how we can look at food and our food systems in fresh ways.
The event will be hosted at Les Zygomates - an iconic Boston landmark, award-winning wine bar, and live jazz bistro in the Leather District. The evening will be complemented by a live auction and live jazz. All proceeds benefit Three Squares New England, a non-profit, grassroots organization that alleviates food insecurity through financial assistance, visibility and community engagement and works to improve the lives of 350,000 children, families and seniors in Eastern and Central Massachusetts who suffer from food insecurity.
Tickets cost $75 per person.
