OMA Assistant's Workshop -- Eugene 2016

Come join us as we explore what it means to be a Montessori Assistant!

Join experienced guides and administrators, Maya Rutkowski (Infant/Toddler level),  Alicia Ginardi (Primary level), and Cece Bockenstedt (Elementary level) for a fun and informative day exploring Montessori and the role of the Assistant.

Topics include: the history of Montessori education, what is Montessori and how does it work, child development ages 0-12 & beyond, roles & duties of the Assistant, observation, how to intervene, practical everyday activities, positive guidance techniques, and communication with the Guide.

Maya Rutkowski holds a double major in Psychology and Child Development, as well as an Infant & Toddler Montessori Credential. She has been working with children from birth to age three for 17 years, both in California and in Oregon. For the past 7 years, Maya has been the co-owner of The Earth Tortoise School, a Montessori Infant and Toddler Program in East Portland.  She is also a founding member and instructor with Heart and Hand Montessori Teacher Education Program. Maya and her husband have two children, two dogs, and love spending time outdoors gardening, hiking, camping, and sun worshiping.

Alicia Ginardi currently works at Harmony Montessori School as the Enrollment Coordinator. She has over 15 years experience working as a Montessori guide, including 5 years as a Head of School. Alicia studied Biology at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and completed her A.M.S. Montessori Teacher’s training in 2008. She loves being in a nurturing environment where children can make their own discoveries and pursue their individual interests each day. Alicia lives in Portland, OR with her husband Craig, their son Jackson, and dog, Ava. Her interests include hiking, biking, reading, cooking and sewing. Alicia has also worked on creating floats for the Pasadena Rose Parade and the Portland Grand Floral Parade for over 20 years

Cece Bockenstedt has delighted in the Montessori pedagogy since 1992 when she chose taking the Primary training over becoming a dental hygienist.  Since then she has been busy with two trainings, both Primary and Elementary, spent two years subbing, two years offering reading/dyslexia support, and 16 years split evenly between assisting and teaching at both the primary and elementary levels.  She is intensely excited to share her "toolbox" with you!
